In March 2024, Measure D was approved by voters.

Measure D was a charter amendment that made changes to Irvines election process.

What this meant:

• The council would expand from 5 members to 7 members.

• Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4 would elect their council members in November 2024.

• Districts 5 and 6 will elect their council members in November 2026.
